Hong Kong
Our trip home from Hanoi was complicated by the fact that we had booked many of the flights using points so we had an evening in Hong Kong on the way, which we used for a haircut, a great coffee (Cupping Room Central) and some people watching and fab (but v. expensive) dinner. Hanoi
We arrived here on Wednesday on another (good) Jetstar flight from Da Nang. Stayed at the Intercontinental which we found to be a good bolt hole away from the bustle of the Old Town. We are on the way home now, with an afternoon and evening in Hong Kong today and flight back via Madrid on Sunday. Continue reading “Hanoi”
My Son
We took a morning trip today to My Son, an ancient Cham site.
Dug up by the French from 1899 and damaged in the late 1960s by war. Set in very beautiful surroundings.
Our tour started with a bit of a Cham dancing demo. Three parts, of which part one was good but part three slightly uncomfortable as the women doing the dancing seemed not 100% happy with their outfits. Though that could have been out imaginations.
Anyway, the remaining buildings are interesting. Interesting trying to imagine them as they would have been used.
Most of the photos are on our SLR, so here’s a placeholder. More to follow when we are home.
Hoi An
Driven 3.5 hours south to Hoi An. More UNESCO. Staying at Hoi An Anantara.

Hue
Yesterday we flew from Saigon to Da Nang on Vietjet (few minutes late, slightly bumpy but fine) and then a 2:20 drive (Da Nang Private Taxis) to La Residence in Hue. We are only here for two nights. Continue reading “Hue”
In Saigon
We caught the hotel shuttle to the cathedral and the took a short walk from there via the Post Office to the Caravelle hotel. Super hot day. Continue reading “In Saigon”
